Oman International Swimming Competition

The NISL Black Piranhas, Newton-Lagoon's Official Swimming Team competed in the Nautilus Annual Swim Meet 2018 in Muscat, Oman last November 9-10, 2018.

The weekend was an overwhelming success packed with pride and emotion as we celebrated the swimmers' as well as the School's success. Once again, Lagoon was the only School competing in this event against professional Club Teams from around the Gulf.

1. What makes this so special, is that Lagoon represented the whole Newton Group internationally
2. The competition our swimmers swam against were all Club Teams consisting of many National Swimmers from Oman, Bahrain, UAE and other Gulf Countries ( This is what makes our results from the competition even more spectacular.)

All our swimmers were true ambassadors for Newton Schools as well as Qatar, as so many random spectators made a point of coming to Staff and complimenting us on the swimmers good behaviour, character and dedication and excellent organization as a team. We warmly thank the Support Team behind the Swimming Team for assisting in an exhausting job, as the competition event was immensely tough.

The competition followed strict FINA protocol and swimmers swam in their races as per their times submitted, then medals were awarded per age group. The average number of swimmers per age group was 150+, this is what makes the number of Medals won a remarkable achievement. Medals were NOT awarded per Race!

Every single swimmer achieved personal success by eclipsing their own personal best times!

Our Results over the 2 Days are as follows:

1st Place: 9

2nd Place: 10

3rd Place: 10

Medals Won: As said a remarkable achievement in the overall picture of the Event

Gold: 9

Silver: 3

Bronze: 4
